Sermon Series:
Do What Matters | 13 Holy Habits That Can Change Everything
Habit #7| Crying Out
We can tell God when we are sad or hurting.
Scriptures | Psalm 102; Psalm 130; Book of Job
Our Holy Habit for this week is crying out.
The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
...
One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
Question 1 | You don’t have to have heard the sermon from Sunday, but if you were in church, watched online, or listened to the podcast, what stuck with you?
Question 2 | Job was struck with some jaw dropping events, however he was able to go to God and cry out. In our own lives, what are some ways that we can carry on in times that seem too hard. What does crying out to God look like for you? If you haven’t or don’t cry out to God, how do you keep focussed on Him rather than the situation?
Question 3 | Many times, when facing a difficult situation we act out emotionally. How can we ensure that our crying out is not just an emotional “vent”, but rather a vulnerable discussion that brings God at the forefront of your life?
Question 4 | What are some ways that we can welcome God into our prayer life? What are some ways that we can be vulnerable when praying? And what are some ways that we can use “but God” to strengthen crying out and strengthen our walks in faith?
