Do What Matters | Habit #10

Sermon Series:

Do What Matters | 13 Holy Habits That Can Change Everything

Habit #10| Supporting Each Other

We grow in faith together.

Scriptures | Ruth 1; John 15:12-17; Galatians 5:13-15

Our Holy Habit for this week is serving, supporting, and helping others

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. - Galatians 5:13-15

Question 1 | You don’t have to have heard the sermon from Sunday, but if you were in church, watched online, or listened to the podcast, what stuck with you?

Question 2 |  We have a lot of freedom. God gave us free will. In Christ we are called to be free. But it’s not enough to BE free, we have to DO something with it. Jeremy said one of the most profound questions he’s ever heard was the question, “What are we going to do with all this freedom?” How does that question speak to you, and how would you answer it?

Question 3 | God made us to have a hunger for community. We have community hunger, but anti-community habits. In order to benefit from the service, support, and help of a Christian community, we have to engage with that community. What has made it harder for you (past or present) to engage with community? And what (in the present) helps you get engaged and stay engaged with Christian community?

Question 4 | Life Groups are an essential way that we can apply this week’s holy habit. And it’s going to be essential as we move into the future. Spend group time praying about and discussing this as a group:

• Who are people you know who might be willing to host a Life Group in their home?

• Who are people you know who might be willing to lead a Life Group (hint: just because you lead, you don’t have to host, and vice a versa)?

• Who do you know who you could invite to attend your Life Group, or another life Group? *And: Please get in touch with Jeremy and share these names!!
